Avalon

The award-winning downtown Avalon refurbishment project has provided a remarkable boost to the local economy.  Originally constructed in the late 1920’s by William Wrigley Jr, over the decades the downtown waterfront had become rundown.  BGB lead a successful effort to achieve public consensus for the new design and features.

Landscape and Scenic Highways Resource Document

This document, and its companion “Landscape Element of the General Plan” were recently completed for the City of Laguna Beach.  These documents provided guidelines for landscape and planning decisions throughout the City.  Received  awards from the OC / APA.  In collaboration with Ann Christoph, FASLA and Selva Partners.

Miraval

A small infill development of contemporary homes in Costa Mesa, Miraval is located in the mid-century neighborhood of Mesa Verde.  BGB was project landscape architect.  Miraval has received multiple professional honors, including the 2017 Nationals Gold Award “Best Architectural Design – Detached”.  Developer: Pinnacle Residential   Architect: Dahlin Group

DeWitt Property – Laguna Creek Restoration

This restoration of Laguna Canyon Creek was completed in 2020 in collaboration with the Laguna Canyon Foundation.  The project included trails, rustic fencing, native plantings, and interpretive signage.  BGB assisted the City of Laguna Beach in receiving a California State Waterways Grant that provided $500,000 in funding for the project.

Redondo Beach Esplanade

Honored by the American Public Works Association as “Project of the Year”, this innovative one-mile long oceanfront streetscape was designed by BGB in collaboration with Harris Associates Engineers.  The $ 3 Million project included blufftop seating, street furniture, and public artwork, and has received praise from civic leaders and residents.

Sutter’s Mill – Ladera Ranch

This residential project is in the acclaimed Village of Terramor that features Green Development practices.  BGB worked with a local artist to create and install sculptures from “found” castoff metal pieces.  Sutter’s Mill received PCBC and National “Attached Residential Project of the Year” awards.  Developer: Centex Homes   Architect: Bassenian Lagoni

North El Camino Real Bike Trail

This Class I bicycle trail provides the northern coastal entrance to the City of San Clemente’s award-winning 2.4 mile Pedestrian Beach Trail, which was also designed by BGB.  This bike trail provides lanes separated from PCH vehicular traffic by a planted median island that utilizes drought-tolerant shrubs, Canary Island palms, and natural rocks.
