Project Description

LAGUNA CANYON CREEK MASTER PLAN

Location:  Laguna Beach, CA
Client:  City of Laguna Beach [Pro-Bono]
Project Type:  Local Creek and Trails Master Plan

In 2013, BGB Senior Principal Bob Borthwick began a master-planning document to restore and beautify Laguna Canyon Creek.  This pro-bono project, in collaboration with colleague Lance Vallery, was completed in 2015.  It addressed the entire 8 mile long canyon, identifying areas for improvement, pedestrian trails, and related environmental elements.

Borthwick presented the plan to environmental groups and public forums, and received strong support.  In April 2015, he presented the master plan to the City Council and received unanimous endorsement.  The Council  appropriated $225,000 for creek restoration , and Borthwick assisted the City in receiving a $500,000 grant from the State Natural Resources Agency.
